Have you ever had trouble defining the traits for a perfect friend? Or have you ever had trouble learning how to be a better friend? Finding the characteristics that you want a friend to have can be hard. Being a friend can be hard in the fact that keeping a relationship with someone requires a lot of energy and time. In this blog post, I want to talk about the key characteristics of a friendship.
Before talking about the characteristics of a friend, it is important to start off by defining the word friend. This word defined as a person someone has a bond of mutual affection. Friendship means to have someone that you can be yourself around. A friend is someone you can count on when things get hard and you can’t find a positive motivation out there. A friend is someone you can have fun with and talk about anything with. There are certain characteristics to establishing a great friendship with someone. In the next section, I want to talk about some of those characteristics.
Friendship Characteristic: Honesty & Trust
Honesty defined as telling the truth in any situation. Honesty is important in a friendship bet being the foundation of a friendship. Without honesty, how does one expect to keep a friend and to be a friend without being their true self? Honesty gives a friendship the benefit of building upon all other characteristics friendship. A friend who is honest with you is not doing it to be mean or to judge you, they are doing it to better you in general. They are being honest because they care about your well-being. Without honesty in a friendship, who knows where someone might end up.
Trust is one of those characteristics that is always hard to do. Trust means to keep a promise within a friendship. A friendship cannot succeed without trusting the person you have befriended. Trusting someone involves having respect for the person you are friends with. It involves being able to communicate something to them and them being able to keep between the two of you.
Friendship Characteristic: Loyalty & Respect
Loyalty defined as being supportive for something or someone. It is a trait that every friendship should have because of how it can strengthen a friendship. Loyalty is one of those characteristics that goes hand in hand with all other friendship characteristics. The best way to be loyal is showing respect, love, kindness, honesty, and being supportive through everything. Loyalty is a choice that each of us has to make within a friendship.
Respect is one of those characteristics that one should have for every person on this earth. Most importantly, respect is something that is very important in a friendship. In every friendship, it is important to respect the other person’s morals, opinion, lifestyle and more. The people you become friends with are not always going to be like you. It is important to respect their decisions and choices even if you don’t agree with them. But also, One shouldn’t be afraid to say how one feels about a certain problem with a respectful tone.
Friendship is something that can be evolving and growing. Friendship characteristics are important to have in any relationship. The challenge of this post is to encourage you to become a better friend. But to also help you find the people around you who are loyal, respectful, honest, and trustworthy. Without all these characteristics, what good is a friendship anyway?
